Jim Manley GC64@ISI-InfoSys.com History of the design of Garden City Those of you interested in the origins of Garden City might want to take a look at this 1998 article by NY Times columnist: MARCELLE S. FISCHLER
The article talks about AT Stewart's (as in Stewart Avenue) design for the area around the period of 1870. It also talks about the work done by his wife: Cornelia Clinch Stewart and their family.
One tidbit I learned is: Streets all over the village are named after Stewart's heirs, including Merillon, Clinch, Butler, Weatherall and Lefferts.
